happy babies happy vintage room

Finally.  This mamma is breathing a long sigh of satisfaction.  One more thing to cross off my "baby-do-before-he's-due" list.  And it's not even womb baby's room.  We now have three cribs in our house.  Three.  Two of them were given to us  (isn't that wonderful?)  The twins are almost two years old but I couldn't bring myself to switch them to toddler beds just yet.  They sleep so well and are so nicely contained in their cribs.  I'll let them adjust to the new baby and then we'll try turning them loose.

I am so thankful that I didn't break the piggy bank for this room.  From start to finish, we've spent less than $100. The most expensive item was the fabric for the curtains I made.  The dresser was given to us and we painted it and the bookcase.  The walls were washed in a fresh new color.  All of the other little odds and ends that make this room unique I found at thrift stores or in my attic.  Scrapbook paper and vintage children's books from my childhood home were framed.  And the two little babies now sleeping in their beds-- are memories in the making.

I LOVE the room, it looks so lovely. Great choice in colors too. I agree with you leaving your twins in their crib for now. I think people try to rush their little ones to big kid beds too early sometimes. My little one is 25 months, and although I am ready to have him move to a big boy bed, I am in no hurry.

What a fabulous room well done. I love the simplicity of everything put together! The vintage items are gorgeous - I love each and every one of them and you have them displayed so cool! You did an amazing job!

Oh you did a fantastic makeover her! I love it, and that's my kinda budget! Your very creative, and ya know I had my son in his crib until he was 3 1/2 and he transferred to a toddler bed for just a short time and now is in a twin. My daughter will most likely do the same! I love that they loved it! Why ruin a great thing?!

I love it...it's so cute! I love all the vintage charm, it's adorable! I'm not a matchy-matchy person...and this is my kinds of style and with lots of memories already there! GREAT job!

Alex and Emily were both in cribs right up until their 3rd birthdays...they never tried to crawl out...so why make it harder on me! Good luck...I'm getting excited for your new arrival too!

Once again, I am totally in awe of your mad skills. I love the vintage stuff, especially the old books. When I started teaching, I found a bunch of old books like those about to be thrown away. I use them to decorate my classroom now.

What a lovely room! My head is swimming with ideas for our playroom after seeing it...

Don't rush your twins out of their cribs. Happy babies = happy mama. My son is 3 and is still happy as a clam in his crib. What's the rush?

It's PERFECT. Oh how I love vintage baby rooms. Your taste is wonderful. I really don't know how you found the time and energy to do it with your busy little ones. And of course I had to read your story in the sidebar and was overcome with emotion. May God bless you and yours.
